Russian Woman Withdraws McDonalds Compensation Lawsuit

Another court case against American fast food chain McDonalds has ended on the November the first as the Russian woman Olga Kuznetsova withdrew her claim, the RIA-Novosti news agency reported Wednesday.

The coffee-cup lawsuit is considered to be the biggest one since McDonald`s appeared in Russia in 1991. Olga Kuznetsova from the Moscow suburb of Khimki spilled on her espresso cup with extremely hot coffee as a swinging door hit her while she was going to the open terrace on May 5, 2004.

At first Olga Kuznetsova just asked for 60,000 rubles compensation (about 2,000 U.S. Dollars). However McDonald`s lawyers refused to pay saying the coffee cup had the written warning that the coffee was hot. So the woman had to go to law.

“The court has received a notary-certified application from Kuznetsova, where she asks to cancel her lawsuit. The case is closed” the Court official said. What maid the woman to decline the claim is still being uncertain.
