A local court sentenced two top Russian officials, from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, to eight to ten years in prison for accepting a million dollar bribe, Russian news agencies reported

Central Bank lawyer Alexei Mishin, and Federal Tax System Service executive Oleg Alekseev were condemned for receiving bribes valued at one million dollars.

Both accused will serve their sentences in a maximum security prison and each will have to pay a one-million rouble fine to the state, equivalent to 40,000 dollars.

The financial police arrested Mishin and Alekseev on October 17, 2006, when they expected to receive a 5.3 million dollar bribe from the representativeof Rossiski Capital bank.
