An Australian court in Melbourne has charged a coach with the Russian diving team with indecent assaulting an employee at the hotel where he is staying, the Reuters news agency reported Monday.

Vladimir Rulev, 56, who is in Melbourne for the world championships, was charged with one count of indecent assault and another of assault.

Rulev was released on bail and ordered to reappear before the court on Tuesday.

A lawyer for Rulev, speaking to reporters outside the court, said his client denied the allegations.

A spokesman for the sport’s world governing FINA said it was unaware of the allegations.
