Brian “DJ Coldblooded” White beat a former Soviet political prisoner to death with a rock Thursday at a highway rest stop in the United Stated after the victim declined to buy his religious CDs.

Brian White, 26, a hip-hop DJ who has performed under name DJ Coldblooded, was arrested after a 90-mile chase and charged with murder, eluding police and weapons violations.

The victim, Mikhail Makarenko, 75, spent 11 years in Gulag for anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda, after he exhibited works by banned artists. He lived in Hillsboro, Va., and owned an art gallery.

Makarenko was traveling with his interpreter, Gregory Burnside, to northern New Jersey and New York City. After a stop in the restroom at the James Fenimore Cooper rest stop, he returned to the car while the interpreter bought a snack.

At the rest stop he asked Makarenko to buy a religious CD. When the older man refused, White then picked up a rock and started striking Makarenko in the head before jumping back into his Chevrolet Camaro and driving off, leaving his victim bleeding on the ground.

White’s mother, Laverne Cavitt, and his sister, Marsha White, confirmed that Brian White has a MySpace page. In an undated writing White discussed his beliefs. He wrote that his latest recording, “The Book of Brian” would one day become part of the “next century Bible.”

“The Book contains Chapters and in them is True Secrets straight from God. Aliens are among us, the secret scrolls is real, We have a secret city the Gov has made, and the cloning of men is now and real. God is very angry with us, and he will soon change his face.”

His mother said in a telephone interview that she did not think her son could have killed someone.

White has been convicted twice in Texas of marijuana possession and was charged last year with driving with a suspended license, according to public records.

A judge set bail at $750,000 and ordered White to have a psychiatric examination. He is expected to appear in a court hearing Friday.
