Finland and Russia are planning joint peacekeeping exercises, Xinhua news agency reports.

The announcement came during Friday’s visit to Finland by the chief of staff of the Russian armed forces, General Yuri Baluyevski.

The Chief of Finnish Defense Forces, Admiral Juhani Kaskeala, said other Nordic countries would also participate in the joint exercises.

Finland and Russia have both taken part in peacekeeping operations in Bosnia and Kosovo, and are doing so in Lebanon.
