Russian Official Notified of His Dismissal by SMS

Minister in charge of promoting entrepreneurship in central Russian province of Nizhny Novgorod, Denis Labuza, told reporters that he had learned that he was dismissed from the top government post from an SMS message, the news agency Regnum reports.
The minister said he had been on a sick leave and could not attend a regional government session where Governor Valery Shantsev harshly criticized Labuza’s ministry and ordered his dismissal.
“As soon as the session was over SMS messages began to arrive and that was how I learned about what had happened,†the sacked official told the press.
Valery Shantsev said the ministry headed by Labuza had failed to achieve targets set by the federal government, bring order to local markets and promote tourism in the region.
Labuza said he now plans to return to commercial activity. Local entrepreneurs said they were sorry to hear about the minister’s dismissal and praised his performance while in office.
