The Mayor of Tomsk Alexander Makarov suspected of power abuse suffered a heart attack when police searched his office on Wednesday night, a spokesman for the mayor’s office told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

At first, Makarov was delivered to a temporary detention ward from where he had to be taken to hospital. Now, the mayor is in intensive care.

No official charges have been presented to Makarov so far.
