The radioactive isotope polonium-210 has been detected at a London stadium that hosted a soccer match attended by a key figure in the probe of the fatal radiation poisoning of a former Russian spy, The Associated Press reported citing a British official.

On his deathbed, Litvinenko blamed President Vladimir Putin for the poisoning.

The Kremlin has vehemently denied the accusations.

ABC News reported that British detectives had identified Lugovoi as a prime suspect in the poisoning.

The report, which cited an unnamed senior British official, also said Russia was barring access to Lugovoi.

“He’s being treated in a hospital,” Chaika said. “Everything will depend on the doctors’ opinion. If doctors allow a conversation with him, he will be questioned.”
