Substance In Gaidar's Poisoning Not Yet Known

Russian doctors have concluded that politician and economist Yegor Gaidar has symptoms of poisoning, but have not identified the substance by which he might have been poisoned, Gaidar’s press secretary Valery Natarov told Interfax on Tuesday.

“Having conducted a comprehensive examination of Gaidar’s condition and the changes that have taken place since November 24, the Russian doctors have concluded that the sudden development of the disease and the scope of the damage do not fit in the picture of the forms of diseases known to medicine,” the press secretary said.

“The disease might have been caused by some toxicological factor,” he said.

“Nevertheless, the doctors cannot unambiguously confirm the poisoning diagnosis because no concrete poisonous substance has been established,” Natarov said.

“Yegor Timurovich will undergo outpatient treatment for the next two-three weeks,” he said.
