Indonesia will take priority in military and energy cooperation with Russia, visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said after talking with his counterpart Vladimir Putin on Friday, Xinhua news agency reports.

“First of all, we expect to continue to cooperate with Russia in the military-technological area,” Yudhoyono said at a joint press conference.

The second priority for Indonesia in its bilateral relations with Russia is the energy sector, Yudhoyono said.

Russia will coordinate with Indonesia its policy on the world energy markets, Putin said.

“Indonesia is the largest supplier of energy resources in Asia. We believe it is very important to coordinate our activity on the world energy markets to help us to solve global energy problems we are facing today,” Putin said.

During their talks, a series of agreements were signed between the two countries, including cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, exploration and use of outer space, mutual protection of intellectual property rights, facilitating the implementation of a bilateral military-technical cooperation program for the period 2006-2010
