Three people have been sent for radiological tests as a precautionary measure following the radiation poisoning of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko, the UK Home Secretary said today.

John Reid is to update MPs and the public on the case in a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon.

It was also claimed today that police found traces of radiation at further locations across London. Scotland Yard refused to discuss the reports.

A Health Protection Agency spokesman said: “The Itsu Sushi restaurant in Piccadilly is being decontaminated.

“Parts of the Millennium Hotel in Grosvenor Square are still closed to the public while tests for radioactive contamination continue. Tests are continuing for any residual radioactivity at a number of locations that Mr Litvinenko may have visited. We will be undertaking health risk assessments at these locations and following up as appropriate.
