Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has offered the Georgian authorities his country’s assistance in easing tensions in Georgia’s relations with Russia, the Interfax news agency reports.

“Ukraine has been paying attention to Georgian-Russian relations. It has proposed its assistance in bringing them back to normal,” Yushchenko told Georgia’s parliament on Thursday.

The Ukrainian head of state congratulated the Georgians on the third anniversary of the Rose Revolution. Ukraine supports all of Georgia’s reforms and efforts, he added.

“We will always stand by you,” Yushchenko said.
