Putin To Visit Ukraine December 22
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Ukraine to hold first meeting of Ukrainian-Russian Yuschenko-Putin intergovernmental commission on December 22.
Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Vitalii Haiduk and Russian Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov disclosed this at a briefing.
Other commissions and sub-commissions of the intergovernmental commission will hold their meetings before the date.
In particular, Haiduk said that humanitarian cooperation and defense committees’ meeting would be held on December 9.
In this, according to the National Security and Defense Council secretary, by December 12, all documents on creation of the high level commission will be drafted.
The package of the documents will also contain commission’s action plan for 2007-2008.
«Currently, we are living very important stage of preparations for the first meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which is to take place in Kyiv in the second half of December. We are working out the agenda, issues to be signed during the talks,» Ivanov said.
He said that Russia is much interested in the commission and expects that the presidents will clear out the state of bilateral cooperation in many sectors.
Ivanov said that Ukrainian-Russian relations have recently been improved.
«We can say that the relations have recently been improved,» he said.
He expressed his hope that the presidents will work out such instruction, which would allow solving the problem of the bilateral cooperation.
Yuschenko endorsed Ukrainian part of Yuschenko-Putin commission in November 2005.
The presidential commission has not held any meeting as of its creation in May 2005.
Ukraine hopes that the first meeting will take place in 2006.
