Top Police Officer Found Dead in South Russia
Vyacheslav Tsys, head of the Main Criminal Investigation Directorate, Deputy Interior Minister of Bashkortostan, was found dead, the Interfax news agency reports.
Vyacheslav Tsys, 45, was found dead with a gunshot wound in his garage in the village of Chesnokovka, not far from the regional capital Ufa.
A hunting carbine, from which the shot could have been made, was found near his body. The republic’s Interior Minister Rafael Divayev and Prosecutor Sergey Khurtin immediately arrived at the scene.
Tsys was appointed deputy interior minister in early 2006. Since then he has combined it with the post of the head of the Main Criminal Investigation Directorate.
