The Defense Ministry will buy 17 intercontinental ballistic missiles, other armaments and military hardware to the total sum of over 300 billion rubles in 2007, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov said at a Thursday meeting of armed forces commanders.

“The budget will allocate over 820 billion rubles for national defense next year. Some 300 billion rubles will be spent on arming the armed forces,” he said.

“These funds will enable us to buy 17 intercontinental ballistic missiles, four satellites, four space launch rockets, and supply modernized weapons to a strategic aviation squad, six helicopter squadrons, and seven tank and 13 motorized infantry battalions,” he said.
