Tbilisi Official Says Russia Launched Ethnic Cleansing of Georgians
The Georgian official has called Russian policy against Georgia “ethnic cleansing†and compared it to the Nazi treatment of Jews.
The official statement was maid at a Brussels press conference on November 13. Georgia’s secretary for Euro-Atlantic integration, Giorgi Baramidze, accused Russia of using “xenophobic rhetoric†and pursuing an “ethnic-cleansing policy†comparing Russian policy to the Nazis actions to the Jews in the 1930s.
Russia has recently cut air, land, sea, and postal links with Georgia and has deported several hundred Georgians in response to Georgia detained four Russian servicemen in October on charges of espionage.
