Russian Federal Security Service has detained two Uzbeks belonging to the international religious extremist organization Hezb-e Tahrir, RIA-Novosti reports.
FSB officers have discovered a cell of Hezb-e Tahrir set up by two Uzbek brothers in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk in Siberia. Gulomov brothers have lived in Krasnoyarsk hiding from the Uzbek law-enforcement agencies since they escaped from Uzbekistan in early 2006.
It is reported that the brothers has recruited over 60 local people to join Hezb-e Tahrir. FSB officers seized from the 29-year-old Dolimbek and the 33-year-old Davranbek Gulomov a large number of videotapes, CDs and books of extremist content.
The Gulomov brothers were charged with administrative offences and sentenced to fines and expulsion from Russia with a five-year ban to return. In Uzbekistan they will stand trial under Uzbek laws. The Uzbek National Security Service suspects the Gulomov brothers of terrorist activities.
