Georgia Lashes out at Moscow for Information Support of South Ossetia Poll
The Sunday referendum in South Ossetia has taken place with the information support of the Russian authorities, the Interfax news agency reported quoting a statement by the Georgian Interior Ministry.
“The Russian government provided the South Ossetian referendum and presidential elections with information support,†the statement reads.
The ministry is paying particular attention to the activity of the international press center headed by Oleg Sapozhnikov.
No accidents were registered in both separatist and ’alternative’ elections in the Tskhinvali region, the ministry told Interfax, refuting information by the South Ossetian authorities that additional units of Georgian police were allegedly deployed in the breakaway republic on Sunday.
