The legendary Red Square parade of 1941 was staged on November 7 in Moscow the Associated Press news agency reported on Tuesday.

Russian veterans, soldiers and patriotic youth groups gathered to pay homage to Russia’s World War II effort and to celebrate the anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.

The participants of the staged parade were wearing historical dresses some of them were riding horses the others were marching in lockstep. Red Square was decorated with transparencies which had the dates 1941-2006.

The parade of 1941 was organized as an act of defiance against Nazi German forces that had advanced to just some 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Red Square.
