Drunk Man Killed Girlfriend and Six of Her Relatives.
A court in Chelyabinsk, central Russia, jailed a local resident for life after the man was found guilty of murdering his live-in civil partner and six of her relatives.
The man, identified as Khubulla Asadullin, was found guilty of multiple murder and sentenced for life in a high security prison. The court also ordered Asadullin to pay 250,000 rubles (approx. $9,000) to each of the three surviving relatives of his victims, the Interfax news agency reported.
The court had established that in the early hours of Aug. 18, 2005 the 54-year-old being heavily drunk quarreled with the woman with whom he had been living in unmarried partnership and killed her with an axe.
Seeking to get rid of unwanted witnesses the murderer killed all of the six relatives of the woman staying at their house that night including her son and daughter from her previous marriage, her 71-y.o. father, 44-y.o. brother, the latter’s son 15 years of age, and a 23-year-old nephew.
To eliminate all trails Asadullin painted the floors and stairs, removed upholstery from furniture and threw out blood-soaked clothes.
On the following evening he removed all the bodies from the house, placed the remains into his car and drove to the countryside, where he staged a road accident by deliberately driving into a tree, whereupon he torched the car and left the scene. Hours later the car with charred remains of his victims was discovered by the police.
Meanwhile, the man never returned home and was put on a wanted list. Weeks later he was spotted in a local psychiatric asylum where he had been placed by his ex-wife after he attempted a suicide in her house. But psychiatric tests showed that the man was sane and could be held liable for his acts.
The case was heard by a trial of jury who unanimously pronounced him guilty and deserving no leniency.
