Russia’s Vnesheconombank opened its office in London on Wednesday, the bank’s press service said.

The office is expected to play a key role in the implementation of the bank’s strategic and current tasks, promote the establishment and development of business contacts, render assistance to the bank’s Russian partners and clients in dealing with issues related to their activity in Britain, the press service said.

The opening of the bank’s office in London, the financial and business center of Europe, should help to advance the bank’s positive image in Western Europe, the press service said.

Vnesheconombank has close contacts with such leading British banks as HSBC Bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank, Lloyds TSB Bank, WestLB, and with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) headquartering in London, Prime Tass economic news agency said.

Vnesheconombank’s network of offices includes one Russian office (located in St. Petersburg) and seven foreign offices, operating in the United States, Italy, China, India, Hungary, the South African Republic, and France, Prime Tass said.
